Zama Partners with Conduit to Scale Confidential Smart Contracts

The world is moving onchain, but there's a critical blocker. Traditional finance, enterprises, and governments won't migrate their infrastructure to public blockchains without confidentiality; they simply can't broadcast sensitive data for the world to see.

This privacy gap has kept trillions in value and countless use cases trapped in legacy systems. Until now.

The Zama Protocol enables fully confidential smart contracts, allowing institutions to harness blockchain's benefits while maintaining complete data privacy. And with Conduit as our infrastructure partner, we're ready to scale this solution to meet enterprise demand.

Why Conduit

Zama's FHE technology enables computations on encrypted data without decrypting it. But to deliver this at scale, we needed infrastructure built specifically for encrypted computation.

A key part of our infrastructure is what we call the gateway, which represents a set of smart contracts used to orchestrate the Zama Protocol, and allow users to request verification of their encrypted inputs, decryption of ciphertexts and bridging of encrypted assets between Host Chains. Each of these operations is a transaction to the Gateway contracts, and requires paying a small fee in $ZAMA tokens. (Read the full Zama Protocol Litepaper for a complete overview of the infrastructure).

While the Gateway contracts could be deployed on any L1 or L2, we opted to run a dedicated Arbitrum rollup for the Zama Protocol, powered by Conduit to ensure maximal performance and cost efficiency.

  • Custom gas token ($ZAMA)
  • Optimized throughput for parallel FHE operations
  • Built to scale as we expand to more host chains

Note that our rollup serves only the Zama Protocol and doesn’t allow third party contracts to be deployed on it.

We partnered with Conduit due to their track record of supporting teams building on crypto’s cutting edge – not just with top-tier infrastructure, but with proactive guidance and advisory support as well.

How It Works

Any blockchain can now enable confidential smart contracts through Zama. These work exactly like standard contracts, but with FHE capabilities.

When users interact with confidential contracts:

  1. Calls execute on Zama Protocol's dedicated chain
  2. Results relay back to the host chain
  3. Everything stays encrypted but verifiable
  4. Whitelisted users get decryption keys for data they need

The best part? Confidential contracts are fully composable with standard ones. No silos. Liquidity flows freely between both. Your entire ecosystem benefits.

Beyond Infrastructure

This isn't just about running part of our protocol on Conduit—it's also a strategic partnership.

When Zama mainnet launches, all Conduit chains will access our confidential computing through the Conduit Marketplace. Any project on Conduit can offer encrypted transactions and private smart contracts to their users with minimal integration.

We're making confidentiality as easy to deploy as any other smart contract feature.

The combination of Zama's FHE technology and Conduit's infrastructure creates the foundation for blockchain's next chapter. Confidentiality isn't optional anymore—and now it's achievable at scale.
